After more than 20 years in nursing, and over a decade as a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner, I began noticing a pattern that didn’t sit right with me.

Brilliant, capable women leaving appointments with more prescriptions than clarity. Symptoms brushed aside because labs were “within range.” Conversations cut short because the schedule didn’t allow for more.

I’ve worked inside that system. I understand its constraints.
And I knew my patients deserved something different.

As a provider, and as a woman navigating my own health journey, I’ve experienced how discouraging it can feel to search for answers and come up short.

Empowered Mind and Body was created to offer care that slows down. That asks better questions. That looks beyond surface symptoms to understand contributing factors like hormones, stress, sleep, metabolism, and lifestyle, while staying grounded in evidence-based medicine.

Katie Brula, APRN, CNP, brings more than two decades of nursing experience and over 15 years in advanced practice to every patient relationship. But what defines her work isn’t just credentials—it’s how she practices medicine.

She believes good care starts with listening. It requires curiosity, context, and time. Her training in Lifestyle Medicine and Functional Medicine principles allows her to evaluate patterns others may overlook—while remaining firmly grounded in evidence-based standards.

As a busy mom of three, she understands how easily women place their own health last. Her approach is steady, practical, and collaborative, helping patients feel informed, supported, and confident in their decisions.
